Publication of the EUR Key Positions on light-water cooled SMR
The EUR Association has published “EUR Key Positions” which should be taken into account for designing light-water cooled SMRs to be built in Europe, complementary with the EUR Document Revision E.
Since its establishment in 1991, the European Utility Requirements (EUR) Association has gathered various European utilities with the goal of harmonising requirements for new mid-and large-size Light Water Reactor designs across Europe and worldwide. The EUR Association has issued several Revisions of a report entitled “the EUR Document”. It consists of a comprehensive set of requirements covering the whole Nuclear Power Plant and encompasses safety, performance and competitiveness aspects.
To deal with the increasing interest from its members and stakeholders on SMR technology, the EUR Association has developed “EUR Keys Positions” that are currently focused on Small Modular Light Water Reactors (SMLWR) and limited to the case of water cooled and land-based SMR.
These EUR Keys Positions should be taken into account for designing SMLWRs to be built in Europe, complementary with the EUR Document Revision E issued in December 2016. They are intended to support interactions with the EUR members’ stakeholders. They will be considered in the frame of the next revision of the EUR Document which will be applicable to SMLWRs.
